WASHINGTON, May 2, 2023 - Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO (DPE) President Jennifer Dorning released the following statement in support of Writers Guild of America, East’s (WGAE) and Writers Guild of America, West’s (WGAW) members in film and  television on strike:

“Our coalition of union professionals stands with WGAE and WGAW members on strike. Film and television writers are essential to the creation of the entertainment many of us enjoy. The projects these talented professionals help create also reaps billions in profits for film and television producers.Yet, writing in the entertainment industry is becoming less and less of a sustainable career and many writers struggle to support themselves and their families. Writers deserve a fair return on their work. DPE calls on the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) to come to a fair agreement that recognizes the critical role writers play in film, television, and other entertainment projects.

Solidarity with Writers Guild members on strike!”
