Arts, Entertainment, and Media Industries Coordinating Committee (AEMI)
The Arts, Entertainment, and Media Industries (AEMI) coalition is made up of 12 national unions that represent professionals in the arts, entertainment, and media industries. By virtue of its size and scope of coverage, the AEMI is the leading voice in the labor movement on public policy in the arts, entertainment, and media industries. The AEMI works to reform and advance sustaining federal support for the nonprofit arts and public media; ensure strong copyright and intellectual property protections; improve diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in its industries; and champion human-centric digital trade policies that support sustainable careers for AEMI union members.
In addition to its public policy work, the AEMI regularly coordinates on organizing, bargaining, member engagement, DEIA, artificial intelligence, and other subjects that affect their industries and shared workplaces.
The AEMI is led by the Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO. Members of the AEMI unions are actors, broadcast technicians, craftspeople, creators, choreographers, directors, journalists, musicians, performers, writers, singers, stage managers, stagehands, and other professionals working in both the non-profit and commercial sectors.
