International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) was founded in 1891, and has grown to become the largest union of electrical workers in the world. The IBEW represents 750,000 active and retired members who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction,telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads, and government. IBEW has more than 900 local unions in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Pacific Islands, and Panama. IBEW has 6,000 collective bargaining agreements. Long a leader in education and training, IBEW has some of the most highly skilled workers in North America. IBEW members manufacture, install, and maintain some of the most sophisticated electrical and telecommunications systems in the world. Their professional and telecommunications members are employed by aerospace companies, telecom companies, including Verizon and AT&T and national television networks and numerous local television and radio stations.
