Founded in 1976, American Federation of School Administrators’ (AFSA’s) mission is to promote the professional, occupational, and economic interests of its 20,000 members and to fight for the highest quality public school education for all pupils. AFSA is the national education union for school administrators and represents 20,000 primary and secondary school Principals, Vice-Principals, Administrators, and Supervisors. With over 90 local chartered unions, AFSA currently administers 83 contracts for its members.

AFSA provides labor relations and professional and occupational services to public school principals, vice principals, administrators and supervisors in diverse school districts across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Major employers of AFSA members include: the New York City Board of Education, the Chicago Public Schools system, the Detroit Public Schools system, Baltimore City Public Schools system, and the Prince George’s County Public Schools system, among others.
