American Federation of Musicians (AFM) – AFM won unanimous support to represent workers at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre in Overland Park, KS.
International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) – IAFF won an election to represent workers at Baldwin Emergency Medical Services in Pittsburgh, PA.
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) – IAM won unanimous support to represent workers at CSC AT LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Computer Science Corporation, in Johnstown, PA.
IAM won a unanimous election to represent professional employees at Cubic Worldwide Tech Services in Savannah, GA.
IAM was elected by a wide margin to represent 220 workers at URS Federal Support Services, Inc. in Seattle, WA.
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) – Professional employees at Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Bismark, ND voted to join IBEW.
IBEW successfully won an election to represent 26 workers at GModelo Agriculture, Inc. in Idaho Falls, ID.
Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) – In Florida, 70 professional and 60 supervisory employees who work for the City of Port St. Lucie voted three-to-one to join the OPEIU.
Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) – The Guild was recognized as the collective bargaining agent for freelance writers, producers, associate producers, and researchers working on nonfiction TV shows. WGAE won two NLRB elections covering 150 workers at ITV Studios and Atlas Media.
American Federation of Teachers (AFT) – Faculty members at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse voted overwhelmingly in favor of joining AFT-Wisconsin. The unit will consist of 328 members.
IAM – Defense Support Services at Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach, FL voted to be represented by the IAM. The 176 workers perform maintenance and repair on the C-130 aircraft at the base.
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) – The workers at CBS Radio in Southfield and Farmington Hills, MI voted to join AFTRA.
International Alliance of Theatrical State Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts (IATSE) – Workers at the Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown, NJ voted to join IATSE.
IAM – Workers at Defense Support Services in Hulbert Field, FL voted to join the IAM.
IBEW – Clerical workers at the Kootenai Electric Cooperative in Hayden, ID voted to join the IBEW.
International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) – The 36 professional workers at Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Francisco, CA voted by a wide margin to join IFPTE.
Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) – The professional workers at Bartlett Nuclear Company in San Clemente, CA voted by a wide margin to join UWUA.
American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) – Employees of the U.S. Department of the Air Force, 597th Transportation Brigade in Ft. Eustis, VA joined AFGE.
In San Diego, CA, employees of the General Services Administration, Federal Acquisition Service voted to join AFGE.
Over 100 employees of the Department of Homeland Security, National Protection and Programs Directorate joined AFGE.
Workers nationwide at the Consumer Product Safety Commission voted to join AFGE. The unit will include 111 workers.
Over 100 professional and non-professional employees at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC voted to join AFGE.
Workers at the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, National Hearing Center in Baltimore, MD voted to join AFGE.
Professionals at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Huntington, WV voted to join AFGE. The unit will include 214 employees.
Over 300 professional workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Long Beach, CA voted and chose AFGE as their bargaining representative.
AFT – Extension lecturers at the University of Washington voted to be represented by AFT Washington. They teach classes at the University’s Educational Outreach English Language Program.
Faculty at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls voted in favor of union representation by AFT-Wisconsin.
Faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Stout voted overwhelmingly to join AFT-Wisconsin.
Faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point voted for AFT as their union.
Clerical workers at Manhattanville College in New York, NY voted to join AFT.
IAM – The 2,900 fleet, passenger service, and reservation employees at AirTran Airways voted to join the IAM. IAM already represents passenger service and reservation employees at AirTran’s proposed merger partner, Southwest Airlines.
IATSE – Stagehands working for the Iron Horse Entertainment Group, Inc., and Iron Horse Ventures, Inc. voted unanimously in two separate elections in favor of representation by IATSE. The covered stagehands work at the Iron Horse Music Hall, Pearl Street Night Club, and Calvin Theater in Northampton, Massachusetts, and Mountain Park Amphitheater in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
IBEW won two elections in Seattle, WA with unanimous support from employees at Totem Electric of Tacoma, Inc. and MB Electric, LLC.
IAM – Workers at Jacobs Technology/Smith Research Coorporation in Mississippi chose, by a wide margin, to be represented by IAM.
IBEW – Workers at Tourgee & Associates in Washington, DC voted unanimously to join IBEW.
IBEW, Local 949 was chosen to represent workers at Xcel Energy, Inc. in Welch, MN.
IBEW, Local 111 was chosen to represent 36 workers in Denver, CO who are employed by the Public Service Company of Colorado.
Workers at Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Gillette, WY chose to join IBEW. The bargaining unit will consist of 53 employees.
OPEIU –Employees of FedConsulting, Inc. in Miami, FL voted 90 percent in favor of joining ITPEU/OPEIU Local 4873. The employees perform office and clerical work for the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
AFT – AFT Connecticut was certified as the collective bargaining unit for more than 400 registered nurses at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT.
An academic staff unit at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, which includes contingent faculty, voted in favor of AFT representation.
Faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay voted in favor of union representation by AFT.
IAM – By a wide margin, workers at URS Federal Support Services in Elizabeth City, NC chose to be represented by IAM. There are 128 employees in the bargaining unit.
Workers at Galactic Network Integrators in Albuqerque, NM were nearly unanimous in their decision to join IAM.
IBEW – Workers at Leslie Phares Electric in St. Albans, WV voted unanimously to join the IBEW.
Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) – A group of dispatch employees at the National Grid Company in Northborough, MA voted for UWUA, Local 360 as their representative.
UWUA Local 150 was chosen to represent 56 technicians following an organizing drive at the Entergy Palisades Nuclear Plant in Grand Rapids, MI.
WGAE – Was certified as the bargaining agent for the writers, producers, and researchers at Lion Television in New York, NY.
AFGE – The approximately 43,000 employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) voted to be represented by AFGE. This victory capped a nearly 10-year struggle by TSA agents to gain union representation and a voice on the job.
IAM – Workers at Raytheon Technical Services Company in Oklahoma City, OK voted to join IAM. The unit will consist of 103 employees.
IATSE – IATSE Local 461 was unanimously selected as the bargaining agent to represent stagehands at Brock University’s Centre for the Arts in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada.
IBEW – Attorneys employed with the New Jersey Attorney General’s office voted to join the IBEW.
In Cedar Rapids, IA, workers at Alliant Energy Corporate Services voted to join IBEW Local 204.
United Steelworkers (USW) was selected to represent workers at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
IAFF won a unanimous election by employees at Pinkerton Government Services in El Segundo, CA.
IAM – Workers at Swedwood Danville, an IKEA subsidiary, in Danville, VA voted to be represented by the IAM. Nearly all of the 318 eligible voters participated in the election.
IATSE – Workers at the Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center in New York, NY unanimously selected IATSE as their bargaining agent.
OPEIU was selected to represent workers at First Transit in Phoenix, AZ.
USW– More than 450 emergency medical technicians, ambulance mechanics, and other workers at American Medical Response in Redlands and Rancho Cucamonga, CA voted to join the USW.
Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) – RWS and Associates entered into a collective bargaining agreement with AEA allowing Equity members to work in select RWS productions under a union contract beginning in 2012. RWS is a firm that produces entertainment for amusement parks, corporations, and retail centers.
IAM – Workers at Hytek Finishes, a metal finishing and coating company in Kent, WA gained union representation with the IAM. The 165 workers specialize in various types of metal finishing and coating for aerospace manufacturers, including Boeing, Lockheed, and Bell Helicopters.
IBEW – Workers at Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Bloomingdale, IL voted to join IBEW. Nearly all of the 340 eligible workers voted in the election.
OPEIU – The Union of Real Estate Appraisers, based in Maryland, voted to join the American Guild of Appraisers, OPEIU Guild 44.
USW – Employees of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Statesville, NC voted to join USW Local 1159L. Nearly all of the 123 eligible workers participated in the election.
USW was selected as the bargaining agent for employees at the National Processing Company in East Chicago, IN.
WGAE – Successfully negotiated a collective bargaining agreement for writers of the Onion News Network television show on the Independent Film Channel.
WGAE was certified to represent writers at Optomen Productions in New York, NY. While the election was held in December 2010, certification was delayed for over eight months.
AFGE – Nineteen professionals at the U.S. Department of the Army, Department of Emergency Services in Miami, FL voted to join AFGE.
Employees with the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, Indiana Hearing Office in Valpariso, IN voted to join AFGE.
In Lakewood, CO, employees with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Combat Call Center, Readjustment Counseling Services voted to join AFGE.
Employees of the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver, CO and Rolla, MO voted to be represented by AFGE. The unit includes 185 employees.
AFM – Musicians with the Chicago Sinfonietta in Chicago, IL voted by a wide margin to join the Chicago Federation of Mucisians Local 10-208, AFM.
IATSE – IATSE Local 118 successfully expanded the scope of its bargaining unit for Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) to include audio, construction, and paint departments. TUTS is a company that produces musical summer theatre at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park, Vancouver.
IBEW – Workers at FirstEnergy Service Company in Reading, PA chose to be represented by IBEW. Nearly all of the 172 eligible workers voted in the election.
OPEIU – The National Association of Professional Allstate Agents (NAPAA) voted to affiliate with OPEIU. NAPAA’s 1,200 members are primarily insurance agents under contract with Allstate and will be known as NAPAA, OPEIU Guild 17.
About 80 patient registrars, health information specialists, transcriptionists, and other employees at Group Health Cooperative in Spokane, WA voted by a large majority to join OPEIU, Local 8.
Road supervisors, dispatchers, and classroom trainers at Fairfax Connector and Metro Access voted to join OPEIU Local 2.
USW – Nursing assistants at Specialty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, a nursing home in Mobile, AL, won the right to be represented by the USW.
Workers at Eagle Picher Technologies in Joplin, MO voted to join USW Local 812. Nearly all of the eligible workers participated in the election.
AFGE – Civilian personnel specialists at the U.S. Department of the Army, Human Resources Command in Fort Knox, KY voted to be represented by AFGE. The 1,400 specialists provide human resources services to soldiers, veterans, retirees, and Army families.
IAM – Workers at the DuBois Cary Law Group in Seattle, WA voted unanimously to be represented by IAM.
IAM was selected as the bargaining agent for workers at McCoy Logistics Services Joint Venture in Fort McCoy, WI. All workers who were eligible to vote participated in the election.
IATSE – In a nearly unanimous decision, workers at Managerial Services Group in Orlando, FL joined IATSE Local 631.
IBEW – Local 3 was selected to represent workers at Matros Automated Electrical Construction Corp., in New York, NY.
AFGE – AFGE won the right to represent more than 700 medical professionals at the Veterans Affairs’ Edward Hines Jr. Hospital in Hines, IL. The unit will include physicians, pharmacists, medical technicians, and other professionals.
AFTRA – AFTRA NY won agreements with the following audiobook producers:
- John Marshall Media, producer of audiobooks for Random House, Harper, and MacMillan.
- A one-production contract with Sue Media Productions for a multi-cast recording. AFTRA is hopeful that establishing a relationship with the owners of the company will open the door for future contracts.
- An 18-month contract with Hollywood Theater of the Ear, a firm also specializing in multi-cast recordings.
IAM – Workers at Defense Support Services in McAllen, TX were nearly unanimous in their decision to join IAM.
IAM was selected to represent the workers at First Aviation Services-Teterboro in Teterboro, NJ.
Workers at Skyline Graphics Services in Palmer Lake, CO unanimously voted to join IAM, Local 47.
IBEW – Workers at Frontier Communications in Fort Wayne, IN were unanimous in their decision to join IBEW.
At Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Denver, CO, nearly all of the 131 eligible workers participated in an election that selected IBEW Local 111 as their union.
OPEIU – Road supervisors, dispatchers, maintenance technicians, administrative payroll clerks, central traffic control supervisors, office managers, and customer service clerks employed at DC Circulator voted to join OPEIU Local 2.
Two additional work groups, the material coordinators and medical coders, at Kaiser Permanente have joined OPEIU Local 2. An overwhelming majority of the 45 workers voted yes to join the union.
USW – Workers at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Columbia, IL voted to join the Steelworkers.
USW won unanimous support to represent the workers at Labor Management Federal Credit Union in Lewisport, KY.
Workers at ExxonMobil Refining and Supply Company and ExxonMobil Chemical Company in Baytown, TX voted to be represented by USW Local 13-2001. All eligible workers voted in the election.
AFT – The Michigan Alliance of Charter Teachers and Staff, an affiliate of AFT Michigan, was voted the official bargaining agent for teachers and staff at the Arts Academy in the Woods (AAW). The AAW is a charter school located outside Detroit and is one of the highest-performing schools in Macomb County.
The United Federation of Teachers Local 2, an affiliate of AFT, was selected as the bargaining agent for workers at United Cerebral Palsy of New York City.
IAM – Two elections were held at Martin Newark Dealership in Newark, DE and in both cases, workers chose to be represented by IAM. In one election, all of the 29 workers voted in the election. In the other election, the decision was unanimous.
In DuPont, WA, workers at URS Federal Support Services chose to join IAM. There are 352 workers in the bargaining unit.
Workers at Skookum Educational Programs, Inc. in White Sands Missile Range, NM chose, by a wide margin, to be represented by IAM, Local 2515.
IATSE – Workers at Pacific Coast Camera and Crewing in Boring, OR chose by a wide margin to be represented by IATSE. There are 78 members in the bargaining unit.
IBEW – Workers at Star West Satellite in Bozeman, MT elected to be represented by IBEW, Local 206. The bargaining unit will consist of 198 workers.
OPEIU – Workers at FCi Federal in Hialeah, FL chose to be represented by OPEIU by a wide margin.
Fifty helicopter pilots employed by Cougar Helicopter received certification through a majority of signed applications from the Canada Industrial Relations Board to join the OPEIU. Cougar is an oil and gas operator based in Canada.
Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) – Supermarket workers at Master Food in Flatbush, Brooklyn, are new members of RWDSU Local 338.
